L'altro giorno ho decisamente avuto la fortuna e l'onere (perché beccarlo suscita sempre questo effetto) di incontrare il fortissimo rider (fa anche parte dei global team Red Bull e Burton) Marko Grilc (SLO) ed eccoti quello che è emerso dalla nostra chiacchierata.

1 - Tu non hai certamente bisogno di presentazioni perché sei un top rider, ma ti senti come qualcuno che ha già ottenuto tutto dallo snowboard o hai ancora qualche obiettivo?

Io penso che lo snowboard possa offrire molto più di quanto una persona possa immaginare. Io credo di aver fatto molte cose nella mia carriera, però penso anche che ce ne possano essere di nuove e la serie Grilosodes ne è una dimostrazione, infatti mi sta regalando molte cose nuove, perché offre qualcosa di atipico che non ho mai fatto prima.

2 - Durante la passata stagione tu hai preso parte in pochi contest. Come mai questa decisione?

Io ho avuto la fortuna di partecipare a tanti contest in questi ultimi 15 anni ed avere la possibilità di fare qualcosa di diverso mi gasa. I contest sono belli, ma, come tutte le cose, ripeterli ogni stagione per anni è noioso. Per il momento sono contento di essere invitato in qualche evento, soprattutto quelli in città.

3 - Tu hai sfiorato la corona TTR Overall. Pensi di non averla vinta per qualcosa che è andato storto? Ci hai mai ripensato?

In realtà non molto e l'ho sfiorata per poco, perché non facendo halfpipe da quando sono junior non avrei comunque potuto vincerla. Pertanto non penso l'avrei vinta dovendo competere contro chi gira sia in halfpipe che in slopestyle.

4 - Allora per te quale è il segreto per vincire la corona WST Overall?

Penso che sarebbe meglio dividere le due discipline. Meglio puntare solo sullo slopestyle o sull'halfpipe e riuscire a mantenere un buono stato di forma per l'intera stagione: cosa facile (lui ride).

5 - Ultimamente stai filmando molto. Preferisci il filming o i contest?

Mi piacciono entrambi anche se sono diversi. Penso che adesso io sia più coinvolto nel filming perché con il filmer ed il fotografo mi ci trovo dentro al 100%. Questo è molto bello, vado sullo snowboard nei posti più fighi del mondo facendo i viaggi più tosti.

6 - Ad ogni modo tu sei un top rider. Qual'è il segreto per rimanere a tali alti livelli per vari anni?

Andare molto sullo snowboard, lavorare molto ed essere sempre molto motivati. Penso che avere cura del proprio corpo aiuti a restare in forma per l'intera stagione.

7 - Chi è secondo te il rider favorito a Sochi 2014 in slopestyle ed in halfpipe?

Probabilmente Mark McMorris in slopestyle e Shaun White in halfpipe.

8 - Tim Kevin Ravnjak è il nuovo talento sloveno di snowboard. Pensi che possa seguire il tuo stesso percorso?

Lo spero! In Slovenia abbiamo molti rider. Cilka Sadar ha vinto la corona TTR Overall e Tim Kevin Ravnjak ha fatto grandi cose nelle categorie junior. Inoltre ci sono molti altri buoni rider come quelli della YU-GO crew che penso possano fare bene in futuro.

9 - Per te che significato ha essere rider e, più in generale, lo snowboard?

Per me essere rider significa avere la possibilità di girare con la tavola l'intero anno e questo è ciò che ho sempre voluto fare sin da quando ero bambino ed è per questo motivo che ancora oggi ne sono molto gasato.

10 - Hai altri hobby oltre lo snowboard?

Mi piace skateare e surfare. Probabilmente sono queste le attività che amo di più fare dopo lo snowboard e sono quelle che mi gasano di più.

Few days ago I have got the luck and the honour (everytime I feel as it) to meet the amazing rider (belongs to Red Bull and Burton global team) Marko Grilc (SLO), so here what we chatted!

1- You don't need any introduction, because you are a top rider, but do you feel like someone who had already got everything or is there still a goal to achieve in your career?

I think that snowboarding has so much to offer that you can never achieve everything. I might have done a lot of different stuff but there is so much more out there. Like all the stuff we are doing with the grilosodes is so untypical and different to what we have done before.

2 - During last year you took part into few contests. Why did you take this decision?

I have been doing so manny contest for the last 15 years and I am hyped to have a chance to do something different. Contest are awesome but if you always do the same it gets to be pretty boring also. I enjoy going to invitational events specially if they are in the city, so fun to ride those.

3 - You grazed TTR Overall Crown. What do you think you did wrong to not get that? Have you ever thought about it?

Not really. I knew that for the overall you need to ride pipe and I haven't ridden pipe since I was a junior. where I won the world champs. So I didn't even think that I would win against petty who was at the top in both halfpipe and slopestyle.

4 - So, for you, what is the secret to win WST (ex TTR) Crown?

I think they split it up now. So you can only win the slopestyle title or the halfpipe one. Moreover I think you just have to be good and kill it over the whole season. Pretty simple formula (he smiles).

5 - Now you are filming a lot. Do you prefer filming or contest?

I like both. I think that I am into filming now douse it is just a bit different. We are a crew with a filmer and photographer and I am in charge of the whole production, so it is really awesome. We go snowboarding in all this cool places and do the sickest trips ever.

6 - By the way you are a top rider. What is the secret to stay at top level for many years?

You just need to snowboard a lot, work hard and keep motivated. I think taking care of your body helps also so I try to just keep fit through out the whole year.

7 - Who is your most favourite rider to win Sochi 2014 in slopestyle and in halfpipe?

Probably Mark McMorris in slopestyle and Shaun White in halfpipe.

8 - Tim Kevin Ravnjak is a new slovenian snowboard talent. Do you think he can follow the same path as yours?

Hopfully. We have a lot of good slovenina riders. Cilka sadar won the TTR title and Tim Kevin Ravnjak did well when he was a junior and there is a bouncy of other good riders like the YU-GO crew, so I think that it is looking good for the future.

9 - For you what is the meaning of being a rider and the meaning of snowboarding?

For me to be a snowboarder is just a chance to ride over the whole year and that is what I wanted to do when I was a kid and that is why I am hyped I can still do it now.

10 - Have you got any other hobbies besides snowboarding?

I like to skate and surf. that is probably what I do most besides from snowboarding. Just hypes me up.
